Photographer's Note

Here's the Martha L.Black, one of the icebreakers on the "Voie Maritime du St-Laurent". The job of theses boats is to break the ices in winter to let the big cargo ships travel and accost on the docks of the multiples seaports of Quebec and Ontario.

Do you know that no one of the ships travelling the "Voie Maritime du St-Laurent" was driven by its habitual captain ? There's a lot of assignated captains, working for the Canadian Coast Guard, that goes and every ships to drive in a section of the River. Each captain knows perfectly his section, and when arrived at the end of his section, leave the ship to another captain... and this from the St-Laurent Gulf until the final destination in Quebec or Ontario.
