Photographer's Note
This is a view of the entrance to the public wing of the Canadian Museum of Civilization, a sprawling modern building in Gatineau, Quebec, on the banks of the Ottawa river. I put into the Workshop a picture of the entire building, as seen from the Parliament Hill in Ottawa, Ontario. It is a modern building, completed in 1989, influenced by aboriginal motifs, this entrance for example is evocative of a turtle head, a native symbol of Mother Earth. The architect of the building, Douglas Cardinal (b1934) has a Métis and Blackfoot heritage
