Photographer's Note

A lone American Elm survivor from Dutch Elm Disease. The vast majority of American Elms in North America were decimated by Dutch Elm disease which is a fungal infection carried by beetles between trees. Before Dutch Elm Disease, American Elms were one of the most dominant landscape/urban trees in Canada. They are very tough and can grow 100ft. This one is a perfect example of the classic form.
