Photographer's Note
The Distillery District of Toronto, was built by a distilling company at the end if the 19th century. This industrial compound of distillery buildings, warehouses and other manufacturing buildings had been abandoned for decades. The brick walls and pavements of the complex are reminiscent of turn-of-the-century America, so it had been used as a setting for a number of Hollywood movies, including "Cinderella Man". Recently the complex was renovated and turned into an artistic complex of boutiques, art galleries, theatres, craft shops, cafes, condominiums and restaurants. It still maintains its 19th century atmosphere, and many of the old machinery is still there as part of the decorations. Part of one of the distillery buildings was a three-story spiral conveyor belt which was used for transporting bottles of whiskey from the top floor to the bottom. This is a picture of the inside of the conveyor belt. I climbed inside the contraption and shot up through the middle to get this shot. Increased colour saturation in post processing.
