Photographer's Note

I took this photo on a small wooden boat that accepted me and my friend as passangers.. The journey was enjoyable but the weather was not very good.. The view is the Golden Horn (Haliç in Turkish), which is a flooded prehistoric estuary dividing the city of İstanbul.. The name in English is a direct translation of its Greek name. In Greek legend, Byzas the Megarian named it after his mother Keroessa..
With the Sea of Marmara, the Golden Horn encloses a peninsula.. It forms a deep natural harbor..
