Photographer's Note
Istanbul's situation across the intersection of three waterways: The Bosphorus, the Sea of Marmara and the Golden Horn is what has made it so important throughout history. The river known as the Golden Horn is the city’s historic downtown waterway. It’s crowded with fishing boats, commercial ships and ferries carrying passengers up and down the river, and from one side to the other. Sunset is the best time to be there, because that’s when the Golden Horn lives up to its name.
This shot was taken from another one of Istanbul's famous landmarks, the Galata Bridge. As the sun sets over the western shore, a golden streak is reflected on the water. Thus the name, Golden Horn. I took several shots, but this is my favourite, with a boat caught in the golden shaft.

The Hagia Sofia is beautiful. I would love to come to Istanbul some time. Excellent shot, nice colors. Saturation wouldn't hurt IMO, would maybe make it a bit more abstract but also more impressionist.

Good angle, right (and equal) amounts of sky, land and water. Very nicely done.

As sunsets go, this is very lovely with great golds and reds. As for the picture, the big black band cuts the picture in two, divorcing the boat from the sky by too wide a margin. Just something to note when you shoot landscapes that blacks create boundaries. This does not mean that this is not a pleasing picture.

This is also one of my favourite photos on Golden horn. YOu just caught a rare yet classical moment of Istanbul and Golden Horn. I have tried to catch this shot for two years but I couldn't unfortunately. Now I am not living in Istanbul anymore. But here is the photo from you. Thanks for this beautiful photo and informative notes.

As a man who can see this scene every day (I live in Istanbul,Turkey) I think you've added something valuable to the scene. I'm not sure...maybe loneliness of the man in the boat under huge city...

Beautiful shot!
Love the colors and the way you caught the boat in the sun's reflection. The two towers on the right are a great addiction as they take your eyes from the sun and the sun's reflection to enjoy the rest of the photo.
Great!
