Terkos (Durusu)lake
Lake Durusu, also known as Lake Terkos, is fed freshwater by the Istiranca. It was connected to Istanbul's city water supply in 1874. It was so important that tap water came to be called Terkos water in the city. 40 kilometers from the city, it is a popular get away on summer weekends. The water is not only important for drinking; In 2007, a firefighting aircraft crashed into the lake while collecting water. While the crew survived, the airplane was destroyed beyond repair.
