Photographer's Note

Garipçe is a village in Sarıyer district of Istanbul Province, close to the Black Sea entrance of the Bosphorus. Since the construction of Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge started, this village has gained popularity among Istanbullus for its quaint charm. The village now caters to folks getting away from the city with its home made food (cornbread, jams & preserves, pickled vegetables, tomato sauces) groceries and fish restaurants.

Here we see stands with home-dried legumes, pickled cabbages, home dried fruit, free range eggs, jams, preserves, honey and tomato sauces. The worksho photo shows the jams & preserves stall. Another photo of mine shows the friendly seller giving out samples of cornbread.
