Photographer's Note

I like the geometry of these stairs.
Saydnaya in Syria is the second most important Christian pilgrimage in the Middle East after Jerusalem, in terms of the number of visitors.The increase in its importance and popularity is due to the numerous and unlimited miracles which occur upon the intercession of Mary, Our Lady, The Mother Of God - Theotokos.
Saydnaya contains an icon of The Virgin Mary and the child Jesus painted by St. Luke the Evangelist in the 1st century A.D. The Icon's name is "Shaghoura" which means "The Famous One".
The story of the church and monastery which were built in Saydnaya on top of a high mountain in Syria date back to 547 A.D.when the Emperor Yostinyanus and his army were camping in the area, preparing to fight the Persians. He spotted and followed a deer to the top of the mountain, where he discovered a badly needed water supply, a large spring of fresh water for his thirsty army. Suddenly the deer changed into a brilliant icon, and he heard a voice requesting him to build a church in honor of Our Lady.
The church contains several old and precious manuscripts and icons.
An interesting story happened when Saladin was fighting the Crusaders in the twelfth century A.D. His hungry troops invaded the monastery of Saydnaya and took possession of all food supplies and provisions found there. However, upon loading the provisions on horses' and camels' backs, the horses and camels refused to move no matter how hard Saladin tried. Eventually, he had to unload all food supplies and return them to their rightful owners before he could move on.

Both an interesting scene , an a splendid graphical effect . May be the man is not at the perfect place (it is not so easy to capture) , but the framing is excellent .

I think it is a good composition, and a very good idea behind it.
I have some doubts on the position of the subjects along the staircase. Maybe a second or two before, when they were more on the left, it was better.

The stairs form a very nice pattern of sophisticated lines and colours, which makes this photo very visible among the thumbnails. The two persons are nice details and the child's face fits perfectly between the railings.

That's a very attractive picture!
Highlights here are the pov and the composition, but the sharpness, exposure, colors and black&white borders are all excellent too!
Superb idea to focus on the details of those stairs and happily you had those people there to make it livelier and more interesting!

Grande Syrie ... et les monuments.
Ce logo sera frappé de la géométrie de l'escalier ... mais ces pierres portant une couleur et des travaux sur les côtés, mais première dans le centre.

très belle prise avec un sens calculé du cadrage. Elle offre graphisme et esthétique mais je dois avouer que je l'aurai préféré sans les personnages.
Des teintes chaudes et douces dans des lumières bien capturées.

So do I! like the geometry of these stairs! You captured them really well, under the sunlight, without overexposition!
The presence of the father and his child give it some life, and the rough rock lets us guess in what sort of environment the monastery was built in.

Like the good graphoc effect with the opposing diagonals of the stairs. It is one such picture where I think the human presence is a distraction rather than adding to the compo. Very well framed & composed.
