Photographer's Note
After a couple of colored night shots, I guess it is ok to post another B&W work picture again:)
I am very impressed by these tough workers, being able to sit there under the burning sun for hours, just welding, after 30 minutes in the sun i feel completely roasted.
Picture taken with the ixus and then given the B&W/clarify treatment...as usual.

Hi Harry,
You've created some pretty serious punch in this picture. I really like the heavy contrasts and the way he seems set apart from this surroundings in a halo of white light. That's some pretty serious protection gear he's wearing.
I don't know much about welding, or if there are different types which don't require eye protection, but here in China I see people every day welding with no protection at all! Only occasionally wearing sunglasses! No hats, no gloves, just a welder and some metal! Can't be too good for your eyes, or your camera sensor come to think of it!
Cracking shot, and thanks for sharing

Hi Harry,
A perfect post treatment!
It looks like the man is congealed in the steel. Beautiful atmosphere for a beautiful photo!

A fine B&W in a very classic style. For the composition I like how the weld slot comes out of the corner in a slight diagonal that is crossed by more suttle diagonals formed by his back and his tigh. The weld spot, the helmet and the box with weld sticks are all in golden cut positions and form a triangle for the eye to move around in.

Hi Harry,
I like this type of PP.. and on the B&W it gives interesting textures and contrasts.... Welding is already hard... under the un it is hard and hot!

Hi Harry,
The B&W treatment goes very well with this stark image of the tireless worker applying his trade in the burning sun.
Very clarity and excellent sharp details to this working man portrait.

Bonjours,

You are building up an extensive collection of your gritty industrial photos. Is there a market for them with your employers? The square format works well here so all our attention in on the action.

Hello Harry,
Very good composition and formation and most of all wonderful post processing on this image.
Although the b&w is very light, you achieved to have a lot of contrast and give a wonderful rendering to the various textures.
Welding under this climate must be really a hard job...
Have a nice day,
Best regards, Christian

Hi harry
At first glance, it looks like a moonwalk in progress. A superb b&w daily life scene, with a marvellous tonal range, & good pp work & sharpness. Tfs!

This is a very good BW with a lot of details and an interesting action.
May be a wider frame on the front by giving a longer rail would have increased the impression about the working action and improved the balance of elements... But definitly a good and interesting one.
compliments

Hello Harry
The B&W suits this gritty picture of the welder in action. Like the tonalities here, but the shades work very well here. High probability that the guy here would be an Indian. Good picture here!
