Photographer's Note

As you can see this is just an ordinary street in a fairly anonymous area, beyond any doubt a photo that could only be described as nothing special.

This is from Tripoli in northern Lebanon, the country's second largest city where I had arrived by bus the same day from Tartus in Syria in September 1995. I don't expect much response to this photo, but it will add some yellow paint to my TE map of Lebanon.

I didn't have a map of Tripoli and spent a few hours walking at random through the city. Some areas were still heavily marked by the civil war that ended five years earlier, a few streets seemed slightly unsafe even in broad daylight, while other parts looked fairly prosperous. The street in the main photo was just about average.

Here is a larger version.

I only spent an afternoon and night in Tripoli and left without regret early next morning by shared taxi to Beirut.

One WS was taken in the center of the city, the other additional photo shows my hotel room.

All photos were scanned from Kodachrome slides.
