Photographer's Note
Kuwait City (Arabic: مدينة الكويت, transliteration: Madīnat al-Kūwait), is the capital and largest city of Kuwait. It has an estimated population of 63,600 (2006 estimate) within city limits and 2.38 million in the metropolitan area. Located at the heart of the country on the shore of the Persian Gulf, and containing Kuwait's parliament (Majlis Al-Umma), most governmental offices, the headquarters of most Kuwaiti corporations and banks, it is the indisputable political, cultural and economic center of the emirate.
No, this is not a sky that welcomed me back home at 3.30AM this morning from trip to Qatar (I still wonder when will I catch up on the sleep deficit from recent trips due to these crazy flight times and early mornings start ups to capture the best light), this was a sky on my return from Saudi Arabia few weeks back. I can still picture in my mind that amazing sky I’ve seen from the plane when approaching Kuwait and recall how desperate I felt not being on land. As we landed the sky started to change colors and I tried to rush through passport control and custom check as fast as I could. When taxi brought me home, I had just enough time to drop my language there and rush to the top of my building to capture this scene, unfortunately door to the top floor was locked so I had to rush to neighboring higher building (which I have recently managed to sneak in). I still wore my lovely abaya (Arabic long black dress) as I had just arrived from Riyadh and when the guy from the reception saw me he looked really strangely at me. I didn’t have enough time to explain that I’ll be sneaking to the very top of his building so I pretended that I’m visiting someone there. I only wish welcome back to Kuwait would be as beautiful as this every time. Btw, just a small note – after trying to find best view points from high buildings during my trips in different places in the world, I realized that that there might be nice view from the very top of the building I live in. And as you can see, I was right but it took me nearly 2 years to find out. Sometimes the great things can be just behind the corner, or in this case, few floors above you.

Hi Lucie,
outstanding blue hour shot. Impressive is the visual impact. Love all those lights and colors and also the effect of the long exposure on the sky. Simply great!

Hi Lucie,
You don't have to be at the highest vantage point to get an excellent photo of the city and this shot proves that, the shutter speed recorded trails of moving vehicles( train?) as a blur adding a dynamic element to the street scene. It also forces my eye to the city skyscrapers. Beautiful shot. Congratulation
Cheers!

Salaam Lucie
Very nice dusk image, the expressway warmed by the traffic and placed on the diagonal is a powerful pointer into the image, I miss a few minarets though, too modern this place...
Have a nice day JY

Hello Lucie,
Une prise de vue qui montre cette ville et la technologie qui l'accompagne.
L'autoroute illuminée est une très bonne ligne qui nous fait plonger dans cette jungle de maison.
Bien vu !

Olá Lucie! Great photo from "our" equipment. You really know what you're doing so that mk2 is really in good hands. :) The colors are outstanding. So is the composition with that orange/yellow/red trail guiding us into the city. Great windy sky. Love this one!

Wow, that's really impressive photo, somehow combines the popular views of Kuwait as a modern place full of skyscrapers, with more romantic images of Middle Eastern sunsets/sunrises... Perfect quality with personal touch - as usually with your pictures.
Greetings from The Hague!

Hi Lucie
I saw this a while back and was meaning to come back and now I finally am. I like your story and the shot. The light is superb and you framed the light trails from the bottom corner just perfectly to lead the eye straight to the skyscraper in the background. Lovely effect of the clouds too.
