Petra (from πέτρα "petra", rock in Greek; Arabic: البتراء, Al-Butrā) is an archaeological site in Jordan, lying in a basin among the mountains which form the eastern flank of Arabah (Wadi Araba), the large valley running from the Dead Sea to the Gulf of Aqaba. It is famous for having many stone structures carved into the rock. The long-hidden site was revealed to the Western world by the Swiss explorer Johann Ludwig Burckhardt in 1812. It was famously described as "a rose-red city half as old as time" in a Newdigate prize-winning sonnet by John William Burgon. Burgon had not actually visited Petra, which remained accessible only to Europeans accompanied by local guides with armed escorts, until after World War I.

Hello,
I like your composition a lot. It was a wise choice to take the shot vertically to emphasize the height of the canyon walls. The horse carriage also adds subject to an otherwise dull looking rocks.

Take away the wagon and you could be in the American southwest. Interesting how similar areas can be.

i love evrything in this photo, composition wise, use of natural lightings. specially the heavy texture in the upper portion of the photo, it's added more weight that tends to catch your eyes to look upward. i can imagine the feeling of walking down there, with the giants watching over me. and the wagon, it makes a picture perfect. or even without the wagon, still its perfect. i'v seen a lot of photos 'bout this place, but this one made me wish to visit petra!
there is only one thing i want to improve in this photo. the text you added.

Hi,
I definitly love this picture. For me Petra is one of the beautiful place in the world. Unfortunalty never been in Petra yet but one day....
