Photographer's Note
My first camera was Certo KN35, made in East Germany in 1973. Long, long break and my first SLR Praktica BX20 some 12 years later (still have it). Today when I enter any electro-store I find such a variety of models from one manufacturer that I think these guys tailor a new model for every single individual…
If you do not want to bother with analyzing all the features of your potential new camera – just buy a new mobile phone (or is it still a “phone”?) - there are just three or four buttons, try them for 20 seconds, compose (or not), click – and photo is ready, what a great souvenir from the place like Petra!!!
(Tech: tried new version of Corel’s Paint Shop Pro XI. Wonder what you think?)

Hi Jerzy!
Almost funny this shot: The combo Petra + the man in his outfit are so stereotypical that it reminded me about some adventures of Tintin, and made me smile.
And then comes the mobile phone... What the hell is a mobile phone doing in this otherwise timeless photo??? Well, I suppose they are everywhere nowadays...

Very nice shot with strong contrast and colours. getting this man in the foreground was a very good idea, it gives yet another dimension to this shot of a very famous place.

I think I'll wait for a DSLR mobile and then...may be I'll buy one :))
You got your person for the famous landmark, all right. This arabic whitish 'dress' makes a good exotic (and funny) foreground.
You have the eye and the speed for this kind of situations, Jerzy.

Hi mr J.
Better than your yesterday's post I think.
I like the contrast of the man with the building. Great!

Hi Jerzy, so you've been in Petra..I guess you have a great moment there like I did back in 2005!
Your POV is really good..Not a classic compo like one could expected from this site.
Great light and colors.

Hello Jerzy
Photographing a 'photographer'! the mobile phone seems so out of place in the setting...and the white gives a good contrast against the red rocks. This way you've definitely added a different dimension to this often photographed site. Great shot!

Hello Jerzy,
Photography is expanding, and almost everybody is taking pictures nowadays. But mnost of them with telephones, and although I am joking about it, some pictures can be quite good, although even the idea of trying makes me nervous. Your picture offers a view of this marvellous place, and the effigy of an Arab brandishing his new toy. You caught a good angle showing the " Hazineh " and the Arab's desperate gesture to catch it well.
Thanks for your tip about Corel !
Keep well - Back from Israel ?

Witam!
A widzę, że idziesz ¶ladami, które zrobiłem kilka lat temu. Skarbiec! To było ale ekstra! Jordański przewodnik ależ nas przygotowywał do ostatniego elementu kanionu - czyli do skarbca. Cały był podekscytowany. Indiana Jones też tam grasował. Ta starożytna budowla i arab z komórk± - niesamowite! Dajesz zar±biste kolory!

We've all done it, taking photos of people taking photos (one of my favourite subjects lately, maybe I'll do a series!), but this is one of the best examples of the genre that I've seen for quite some time.
I think it's the contrast between his traditional Arab clothing and the mobile phone that does it for me. That and the ruins of Petra of course.
Excellent work Jerzy.

Hey Jerzy,
damn those mobile phones. I wont say your situation is cutting egde, the photo of a photographer shot is a bit cliche, but what I like is the exoticism of the shot. Ive never been to petra, these arabian clothes are exotic and the colors are great

I like this as a follow up to your last one J - it again shows well the modern Arab in a classical historic context - it's a cheeky image but it's combination of antiquity, traditiona and modernity is very well presented - it's strange I almost don't want to go to Petra anymore - your image is perhaps the final one - I now feel as if I've been there and almost expect for it to be an anti-climax.....
did you not go to Bethlehem on your visit J?

Other than obvious things like content, the combinations of tones are really interesting here, the strange red cliff, the "photographers" cold blue/white clothes and the yellowish sunlit cliffs - it's almost like a montage. I really like photos like this, this is much more interesting than a picture of these ruins alone.

Old and new. Tremendous capture, couldn't be more "urban" and "exotic", Jerzy, so funny and my eyes are no doubt unaccustomed to such a view.
That UBIQUITOUS mobile!!! (still am prehistoric, haven't given in :-)
The most interesting shot I have ever seen of this marvellous place.

Funny that a "local" tourist fits in the photo, whereas a westerner doing the same would be out of place... I like the shot, although the colours of the rocks on the right and the sky are a bit artificial, IMO.
Super framing,
Congratulations !

Hey Jerzy!
A very interesting shot, bridging modern vs. ancient through this composition...The wide angle here is so in place, getting the guy photographing and the BG of beautiful carved shrine..George did a good job with his photoshop to eliminate the sky cast on the fabric of the man (though I prefer you "full frame" composition). I think that you a bit too sharpened the picture (look at the cobblestones...).
Well seen!

A Martin Parr type shot I think. To be honest what do they do with all these photos they take. Probably show people them on there 1" screen and delete them. Oh well. Great pov Jerzy.

Hej Jerzy!
Musze sie przyznac ze podoba mi sie Twoj pomysl na kompozycje kadru, podoba mi sie niebotyczny kontrast pomiedzy sina, zacieniona biela a ciepla pomarancza skal, natomiast nie podoba mi sie fragment gdzie koncza sie skaly, a zaczyna niebo - wyglada sztucznie, tam cos Twoj PsP troche przekombinowal ;-))))
Ale to detal.

I love this shot. Composition, colors and detail are well balanced but best of all is how a simple idea gives personality and force to the picture. Excelent work Jerzy.
