Photographer's Note

In our last stop of the one long day trip to the Judaean desert and Jordan southern valley monasteries, we arrived at the Mar-Saba monastery which was founded by Sabbas-the-Sanctified in 483AD.

Located in the middle of the Judean desert east of Jerusalem, built above the stunning canyon of the Kidron creek in a remote area which was not an easily accessible until 40+/- years ago.
Considered to be one of the oldest inhabited monasteries in the Christian world.
