Photographer's Note
Under British-Mandate in 1944, the Royal-Navy mounted 4 cranes in the port of Tel-Aviv - This is the last remain of it. Cranes used to service War-ships repairs and general merchandise shipments.
The port was active till mid 1954 , than abandonded.
Only in the 1980th it was recontructed as a commerce, recration and night-life area in Tel-aviv.
Taken on a hazy day, looking southward .

Hello Ike, This is really a huge crane, I can imagine what this might have looked like 65 years ago with the other cranes. Interesting that they have left this one. It is certainly a conversation piece for a visitor. Good job. Regards, Roger

Hello Ike,
A typical crane of the Britsh Royal-Navy, a mecano cranes or rapidly mounting crane.
When I was a small boy we follow everyday it creation of Israel in the newspaper. Your premier Mister then was a very great man Ben Goërion.
I am born in 1941!

A small but strong crane. Nice shot of that old engine.
P.S. The ship is in Porto Alegre for years without paying the port fees. But there is a question of international law difficulting to solve the case.

nice idea the use of the old structures of this por to use in urban activities, they did the same in many other places around the world. I liked our photo, the graphism of these structures and the perfect framing are very nice to see. I would prefer this image in B&W, I guess it would get more beauty because there aren't so many colors here. anyway it is a nice job

That crane was kept in Tel aviv landscape Ike, a remain of past periods, it contrasts nowadays with the modern buildings, restaurants and cafes existing in the old port

Hello Ike,
I am surprised that the port was simply abandoned. From the title, I infer a newer and bigger one was built, right? I am glad they decided to turn it into a touristic area, it's a bit of history that needs to be preserved. This is an effective take of the historic crane.
