Photographer's Note

Seven miles from downtown Jerusalem, in the same general direction of Hadassah Medical Center, Yad Kennedy is reached by following the winding mountain roads past the Aminadav Moshav. Opened in May 1966, the 60-foot-high memorial to Pres. John F. Kennedy is designed in the shape of a cut tree trunk, symbolizing a life cut short. 51 columns encircle the mountaintop memorial, each bearing the emblem of a state of the Union, plus the District of Columbia.
Nearby, there is a parcel of land in which members of the Kennedy family planted trees.
John Kennedy was an orthodox catholic and so every year, in the day he was killed, monks from one of the churches in Jerusalem is performing hymns at the Kennedy Memorial.
