Photographer's Note

Ramon-crater, the largest of its kind in the world, found in the Israeli Negev, one of five craters in the Negev, constitutes a unique phenomenon of nature and landscape.
It is an erosion crater, formed of soft rock-layers that were under higher-pressured rocks .
Central crater was previously head of a mountain. The crater lips, is 800m above sea-level, a top of the mountain that no longer exist, and eroded that mountain ridge into the basin
The length of the crater about 40 km, maximum width of about 9 km, and it's depth relative about 400 meters.

This is a scanned print from 4/1997 , #1 - hiking in the cresent-creek ,( "Ein-Saharonim" in Hebrew) located in the south- wall of the crater.

p.s. Since this treep to Ramon , I never visit back there, maybe it is time…
