Sheikh Lotfollah Mosque
period: The Safavides
This uniqe mosque is another masterpiece of the art of architecture and tile-work of the 17th century AD.
It was built at the order of King Abbas over a period of 18 years by the artisan Mohammad Reza Isfahani.
The construction of the mosaic portal was completed in 1603 AD. and the main building and its decorations completed in 1619 AD.
This interior and exterior decorations of the dome consist of mosaic faience and the excellent inscriptions written by Al Reza Abbasi and Baqer-eBanna.
Also, the dadoes of mosque are ornamented with cuerda seca.

what a fabulous interior. The detail and colours are fantastic, and I like the symmetry to. I would have liked a slightly greater exposure though, just to show a bit more detail in the door at the end. Nevertheless a beautiful shot.

What a beautiful architecture.. Lovely depth through the arches and very attractive colours on the ceiling.
I would love to see this Mosque with my own eyes.

Well Hamid I must say what an interesting place that you have captured with your camera. I have seen lots of natural beauty in my province. But compared to that I must say I am very impressed with the extreme details that have gone into this Mosque. Excellent photo! thanks for sharing!
