Photographer's Note
A wind tower is a traditional Iranian architectural element to create natural ventilation in buildings. The devices were used in ancient Iranian architecture. Windcatchers remain present in Iran and can also be found in traditional Persian-influenced architecture throughout West Asia, including in the Arab states of the Persian Gulf, Pakistan, and Afghanistan.
One of the most common uses of the windcatcher is to cool the inside of the dwelling; it is often used in combination with courtyards and domes as overall ventilation and heat management strategy. It is essentially a tall, capped tower with one face open at the top. Windcatchers tend to have one, four, or eight openings. In the city of Yazd, all windcatchers are four- or eight-sided. (Wikipedia)
I was fascinated with these wind towers in Yazd. Later, I was surprised to see them also in the old part of Dubai. here the wind towers and their reflections in the main square of Yazd.

Hello Malgo,
The wind catchers are quite beautiful but they also make the photo very interesting. This photo would have lost a lot without the informative note. We would only have seen the attractive architecture. The reflections are beautiful too, and the Persian writing on the wall adds a bit of "exoticism".
Purely photographically the WS is even better, or at least more entertaining. The colours and shapes are truly fantastic. It could clearly have been a work by a surrealist master. I just don't now which one.
Have a nice Saturday.

Hi Malgo,
These distinctive windcatchers are quite impressive, and no doubt useful in that climate. They look really good against the blue sky and on that reflection.

Hello Malgo,
These wind towers are fascinating, both from their design and their purpose. I would certainly have been mystified by them, had I not read your notes. They make strong images, well placed in you composition, against the clear, blue sky.
They are also strongly featured in the f/g, in their mirror-like reflections.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hi Malgo,
The reflections on the water are assets to the composition. The pointof view is showing the details of the wind towers. The colors are beautiful. Have a nice day.

Hello Malgo,
A great photo of those large wind towers, whose warm colours make such a great contrast with the blue sky. The reflections are amazing too. Wonderful distortions and still very good clarity.

Hi Malgo
I have learned something new today, I had NO IDEA about these wind catchers and their function. I just thought it was part of the architectural design, not knowing their purpose was to cool the interiors. and what a difference it makes viewing the photo in the large format, looks fantastic. great city shot, excellent post. cheers

Czesc Malgo
pozdrawiam
Piotr

Ciao Malgo,i don't remember this kind of architechture in Uzbekistan,so they are typical of this area as i can read in your note. A very useful way to refresh the houses with these curious and geometric towers like a lot of small minarets,a very nice capture with bright reflections,i like the reverse reflections view in the WS too, very very bright. Have a nice Sunday and thanks,Luciano

Hi Malgorzata
Very regal looking wind catchers! The angle of light gives some excellent shapes and luxurious colour contrast to blue background. It's the fluid water reflections leads and lends a lovely finishing touch. Excellent shot and tx to your useful narratives.

Hello, it s a rewarding photo, i didn t know these wind towers. They are used in places like Yazd where the weather is suffocating in summer. Good idea to cool the houses interior, they are also aesthetic and integrated to the local architecture. Fine colors, good sharpness, regards.

Hello Malgo,
Those are spectacular structures, I wonder how much they are able to cool a building. Lovely reflections, too! 👍🏻👍🏻

Hello Malgo,
Wow! Water in the desert.
I don't know why I've never seen this picture before.
Wonderful scenery of Yazd!
Great reflections and strong colour contrasts.
I was in Yazd but in the time of analog photography and I wasn't a good photographer in those times.
Best regards, Paul
