Photographer's Note
The ancient Hegmatanen hill is located at the entrance of Hamadan city. Relics discovered from this hill are, a golden tablet (from the times of Ariamaneh, the father of Arsham), the golden cup (related to Khashayar Shah, the offspring of Darius) dating to the 5th century BC. A sword and a goblet (of approximately the Achaemenian period), and an embossed lion with wings in a leaping position (related to the Achaemenian era). These discoveries show that this area,i.e., the Hegmataneh hill was most probably the treasury of the Achaemenian monarchs.( همدان - تپه باستاني هگمتانه )

Interesting scene of the Persian Empire ruins, with the ancient walls like an elaborate puzzle laid out from foreground to background.

Hi Mehrdad, This photo shows the progress of the excavation site in Hamadan city. The plastic covered the ancient walls tells that the weather is not coordinating with the progress. Clear close up of the ancient walls which are shown with details and great light. Thank for giving the follow up on the ancient Hegmatanen hill.

hi Mehrdad,
Nice to see an out door scene of this important excavation, the walls do look like a maze! I love to try and imagine these buildings in their original state, if this was a treasury I guess it was an important place.
