Photographer's Note
another picture from the water front in Manama, well this part isn't really a waterfront anymore, as you can see in the background the sea is being reclaimed further out.
I know this picture is a little special, very very grainy, due to the effect of the clarify tool in PSP. But I actually think it suits this scene well.
Furthermore i find that the scene represents Manama very well, the construction sites are everywhere, and a big part of the population are dressed in the traditional Arabic way.
Update:
I just uploaded a color version in WS if anyone should be interested.

Harry, this one deserves praise for merging distinct elements. The black cloth, shoes and the construction provide an interesting juxtaposition. Having more space on top, even at the expense of less ground, would be good though. I agree that grain adds to the mood. Regards,

Harry,
Nice pic from Bahrain. A great composition with the fully veiled lady - and then seeing the cranes in the skyline is an interesting contrast.
Great tones in the black and white as always.
Cheers

A rare occurrence when to not see the face is not bothering me too much. I looked a few times already at this photo, and somehow, I don't have so many words. I like the photo, not only for its esthetically value, though it's there: the composition is good, well balanced between that dark veiled woman in the foreground, left side and the two white buildings in the background, right side. I like the grain too.
But somehow, it is something else that make me stop and look at this photo... And that is the part I am having a hard time to express. The sunny weather, the work of the construction, the noise of the life... and then... one door open ... silence... and a black ghost is passing... ... ... ... ... / and life is coming back... like if nothing had happened...
Do you see what I mean?
If not, well... I'll put that on my bad English! :)

Hola Harry,
Interesante el contraste de la mujer en su atuendo tradicional con la modernidad del edificio en contrucción. Buena composición y buen trabajo en blanco y negro.
Best regards,
Mirari

what a combination of sooo diferent elements... tradition and modernity in one frame as in many middle eastern countries... i like the dynamism added by her veil although i dont like to see women in it causing them all look the same... i like the noise here also...
cheers
