Photographer's Note

Yarmouth Pier on the Isle of Wight is the longest timber pier in England still open to the public. Built in 1876, each timber board records a name of an individual, family or organisation (presumably as part of some form of sponsorship).

This image was taken on a sunny but very blustery spring day. Crouching low I set the camera at F14 to obtain sufficient depth of field and to highlight the converging 'handrails'. The shadow adds a further element to the picture. The building cloud in the background helps to partially fill the clear sky.
