yes its an amazing place alright Adam ,how rock has been almost turned upwards is incerdible when you think of the force behind it .The strata lines are everywhere along this coast ,showing the different sediment layers very clearly .AND
Looks like someone got wet feet by the look of it ,very nice lines in your composition and nice effect on the water surface .

Hi Adam;
Another great shot. I have a question for you - how do you manage to balance the light so well? Usually I get the foreground too dark or background too bright when shooting at sunset/sunrise. I do use the Hitech 0.9ND but I am still having problems... Are those rocks in the last rays of sun or are they already in the shadow? Thanks for reply.

These really are intriguing rock formations and quite varied in colour. I like the strong sharpness in the first one and how it contrasts with the ice-like water. It's elongated form creates so much depth too. The soft pink like is very pretty.

Delightful, it looks like a faraway planet from a science fiction film. Great balance of sharp and soft, also cool and warm colours.

Okay,

I'm spending too much time reading your magazine (amongst others) and not enough time on TE!

It's the broken up lines that really make this shot work for me. The forground rock is strong enough (no punn intended)that it makes for a great subject with ideal compositional placement (rule of thirds). Level horizon- which is always vital to such shots. I like the coastal range which leads nicely to the corner of the frame. Great colors and shadows detail Adam.

I was recently in Phuket, shooting with the EXACT same kit (although zoomed all the way back). I found quite a bit of lens distortion- do you ever find the same with such shots?

Hello Adam,
A marvelous nature picture exactly the way I like them to be. It is not specified at what time you took the picture but because of this pink sky I would presume that you woke up early in the morning. I don't see the exposure but because of the effect on the water I would say about a second or slightly more. The result is great a deserves to become a lovely poster.

Like you I love the Dorset coast, and know this area well (though mostly from out to sea). This is, I believe, looking East: is this dawn or the reflected light of evening I wonder. I'm assuming a very long shutter speed, and therefore guessing you used an ND filter: sadly the Photo Info panel doesn't tell us. But this is a beautiful composition, particularly the diagonal strata slicing across the frame. A classic.
