Photographer's Note

I know B/W shots are not that Popular on TE but some captures lend themselves to this format better than others, as is the case with this posting. In the late 1950s, as a young lad I was taken by the steam engine bug that has not left me to this day, I spent many hours watching these machines thunder through Leicester station with smoke and steam swirling around in their wake. In 1967 all the steam trains were being scrapped as Diesel units took over .. for me the romance had gone forever.

This shot was taken at the GCR Heritage Line engine sheds last Sunday, I converted to B/W and added a medium grain to try and age it a little to make it more authentic.

Processed in Capture NX and CS2 .. levels and USM
