Photographer's Note
Taken a couple of days ago on Stanage Edge in Derbyshire. This was my first visit to the Peak District National Park. As I was up there on business I didnt get to see anywhere other than a couple of brief visits to Stanage Edge. But what a fantastic location.
It had been extremely foggy all day. I was initially dismayed as I wanted to catch a great sunset from the top of the rocky outcrop. But as I drove towards it the fog kept visibility really poor and so gave me little chance of any good light. But I decided to perservere and to my surprise the fog actually makes this image. It simplifies the background, accentuates the colour in the sky, weakens the sun sufficiently so I could photograph directly into it and gives the shot a sense of mystery. A valuable lesson learned for me there!
There seems to be a wealth of opportunity for the photographer here. I hope to return soon.

I love the foreground! That rock looks almost alien at first. The round holes in the rock are a nice compliment to the round lines in the distant horizon, sun and curving road.
I also like the orange/blue colour compliments. However, I encourage you to check out the blue channel in Photoshop. You also have a very appealing monochrome image hiding in there!

Hello Adam,
I consider this new posting of yours to be one of your best images. I like the way that the rocks in the foreground slope at the same angle as the hills in the background. An excellent "echo" effect. The similiar angle of the road creates another "echo". The Sun is perfectly placed in the soft red late afternoon sky and the small pools of water on the rocks in the foreground add another interesting element. This is the type of atypical landscape shot that I really enjoy. Beautiful work!

Hi Adam,
Excellent composition, you've shown that fog shouldn't put you off getting out with your camera. When I see shots like this it just makes me want to get out with my camera, Come On Weekend!!
Best regards,
Paul.

Hi Adam, glad that you enjoyed Stanage.
I love this shot with the mistiness and the pinky-red of the sun which gives your scene a lovely atmosphere.
I have one or two Derbyshire shots in my gallery.
I like the close-up of the rocks in the f/g too.
TFS, regards Jean.

Hello Adam,
Superbe travail dans cette belle image ! la profondeur est palpable malgré la brume qui forme un agéable filtre orangé pour le soleil ! Le cadrage est très soigné comme d'habitude et la diagonale formée par les rochers est excellente !
Bravo !

Hi Adam, the edge of the Hope Valley, maybe? It just shows that effort and perseverence pays off in the long run. Beautiful pinks, orange and grey combinations. A treat for the eye! Paul.

A well known viewpoint but rarely used to such great advantage as this. Excellent work and a just reward for your perseverance Adam.

Fantastic shot Adam! The light in the distance provides a great sense of depth, and the rocky foreground has a nice texture and solidity. It's an exciting time to discover a new location, with all the possibilities unfolding before you - I'm jealous! Actually, I may be going to the Oregon coast at Easter, so I'm pretty excited. Hope you post lots more from the Peak District because I'd like to see it.
