Photographer's Note
The busy A82 which runs straight through Rannoch Moor. Despite the beautiful setting this road is very dangerous. Cars speed down here around 80mph all day long, and dont allow much room for photographers. You literally have to take your life in your hands here, especially when you walk (or rather run) across that bridge.
I dont usually go for shots which have a strong human element but in this instance I think the road really adds to the shot, and the low angle helps to zoom you along the road and towards the mountains.

Excellent composition- I agree that the road really adds to your shot. Also the sharpness. The colors in the sky contrasted with the mountains and the road give the image a surreal feeling. It almost feels like if you watch it the clouds will start moving. Very well done! Thanks for the warning about the traffic- I'm planning a driving trip to Scotland soon and I will certainly remember your warning.

Great shot. I love the bright lines of the road and the crash barriers leading to the bridge. It works very well, in this picture. I think here the human element makes the surrounding nature look even more impressing; a straight road passing through vast expanses of raw nature or something along these lines. Also wonderful clouds and light above the mountains. Makes me remember the great views from the top when I scrambled up Buachaille Etive Mór 18 months ago (damn, how time flies).

Pity there's no more landscape shots on TE that include roads.
This shot deserves to serve as an example of 'HOW TO DO IT CORRECTLY'.
Just look at the shape of the road and where it ends - then find other lines in the frame and follow their path... also, pay attention to the light coming from the left, lingering above the ground... it should soon be clear to everyone why I like this one so much!

Hi Adam,
The road definately adds a lot here I think. I like how you composed the photo to look along the safetyrail on the right which guides you all the way to the bridge. It is first from there you start to look left but before that you have already seen the mountains in the back.
Well seen and very well composed.

I'm with you in disliking the human element intruding into wild landscapes but if one looks at this with a photographer's eye rather than a wilderness lover's then the excellence of this shot is discovered. It is a fact that the heavily railed road is there, so to capture its almost surreal presence in this landscape as well as you've done here is to be praised. The perspective and composition is superb and the brightness of the railings and road markings strengthens the incongruity of the modern mixed with the ancient.

Hi Adam,
this is very nice composition. From my opinion it is oversaturated but saturation here supports the mood.

The road does add to the shot Adam and for all the reasons you mention. I also welcome a photo of Buachaille Etive Mhor that isn't taken with a babbling brook in the foreground!

I agree with you that the road really adds to the shot, the lines are really white and the mood of your picture speak to me.

This is so clear and sharp, the colours look almost more real than when you see the place with your own eyes. It's a great shot, I love the road and bridge being in it, it wouldn't be the same without it. :)
