Photographer's Note
A shot from my 2005 trip to Scotland. I only just processed this one yesterday - I wasn't too keen on it originally as I thought it was too cluttered. But coming back to it after all this time I reevaluated the image and decided that I do like it after all. Sure its cluttered, but the channel walls both focus the view on those wonderful boulders and then down to the mountains in the background. It was a terribly moody morning, and that even lighting helped this shot to work. With any better light, the shot couldnt have worked as the contrast range would have been too great.

Hi Adam, Like most of your work, this presentation is very good. The only flaw(?!!) I find is the blur on the water... it doesn't look natural to me... other than that this is an awesome image. TFS!

Wonderful picture! I like how the rock-channel frames the dark, cloud covered mountains in the background. The foreground creates just enough interest to bring my eyes back down to explore all the detail. Also love the warm, earthy colours.
Thanks for the informative note.

Bonsoir Adam,
Nice compo. I like how the both wall create a perspective to the mountains and the contrast between warm tones in the foreground and cold tones in the background.
Best regards

It's amazing how well this one worked out. The huge boulders give this an unusual look and texture. For once the flat, overcast lighting was an advantage, because with stronger lighting this would have been too dark between the two walls. Very interesting shot, and a lesson to all of us to not delete those shots that you don't like right away!

Hi Adam. Another wonderful shot from the world in which water, wind and land meet. You explained the composition very well and I concur with your evaluation. In addition , I love the colours, particularly the suggestive green in the pool. Fine detailed work as usual, all part of an inspiring vista. Regards. Klaudio.

Great shot Adam (as always);
I can't help but notice how Alvin (CORMAC) is following in your footsteps trying to capture the same magic in his images.
I have to admit, I'm leaning towards doing the same. I made the switch to Lee Filters this past weekend, as they offer higher quality and larger filters so they do not show in the wide angle of the 17-40mm on my 5D.
Looking at your shots, I decided to go for the 0.9 grad nd filter.... do you use hard or soft edge Adam?
I really like how the forground rock draws your attention to it, like how you would look to the next rock when you're traversing a rocky shore.
Great sharpness, composition and colors Adam.
Did you tweak any colors at all, with the bright yellowish green and the blueish sky?
All the best,
- Dan

Hello, Adam--
i like this one a lot, there is a lot of subject matter in it, for sure, but i feel like everything in the frame works to pull the viewer back to the distant mountains, giving it a real harmony. i like how the foreground is warm, saturated yellows and oranges, and the colors cool off to the moody blues in the background, with the stormy water serving as a sort of transition point.
Thanks!

Adam I know you shoot with the 5D now but noticed you used the 10-22mm on the 20D here. I love this lens and how it makes you feel like you entered the scene when you look at the bottom of the frame. Excellent capture with maximum depth of focus. Very well done Adam. Thanks for sharing!

Another trademark 'Big foreground' image, and I'm certainly not complaining about that :-)
The detail in the rocks is staggering and as always wonderful composition. Keep submitting the inspirational shots.

Great POV and classic use of wide angle. Like the distant mountains and the rocks in the foreground that lead your eyes into the picture thru the waves. TFS.
