Photographer's Note
Taken today in the South Downs in Hampshire. When I first started learning photography I took a shot at this location which has always been one of my favourites. Back then it was film, and I have always wanted to be able to recreate it in some way with digital. The only problem was that for that original shot the cloud was truely unique, and I know I will never be able to beat it.
Yet I went back today and had a go at creating something with the conditions that today offered. The clouds were low on the horizon so I took a shot and subsequently cropped to this format. I think it works and, while not in the same standard as that old shot, can hopefully sit alongside it.
Panoramics are not something I do often but I think it really suits this subject matter. Be interested to hear what you think.

Hi Adam,
The shot definitely works for me, everything comes together to make the image, take one thing away and it wouldn't be the same. By that I mean if one part is taken away then the image loses effect (eg. the trees), together they make a perfect composition.
Once again, congratulations on a superb job in a type of image I'm not used to seeing from you.
Best regards,
Paul.

Wow, I'm really surprised that this is from the UK. I first thought you were on a trip to the Tuscany. You're right, the panoramic format suits the subject very well. Wonderfully delicate colours and perfect clouds. I also like the fine, almost invisible curving lines in the land. I would love to see your old shot this place.

This is ideally suited to the panoramic format, and I like the minimalism of the composition. Your placement of the intersection of gold and green in the centre of the frame works extremely well, and the line of trees looks great set against the skyline.
The only thing that disturbs slightly is the fact that the clouds on the right are abutting the edge of the frame. I would have preferred it if we had blue sky in this area, like on the left side of the image.
Other than that a superb piece of work Adam, well done.
Cheers,
Ben

Hello, Adam--
i certainly agree with you in that a panoramic format suits this subject matter well, emphasizing the wide open space. The composition is nice, placing the trees under the higher clouds, providing a good balance with the lower clouds. The simplistic color scheme is nice, also.
Thanks!

This is really different an beautiful! The horizon is so straight that it could have been drawn with a ruler, and the row of trees gives it a unique accent. The clouds are the star attraction, and really move this shot to another level. Beautiful image Adam, and it builds on the older shot without repeating it.

Hi Adam!
Yes, the clouds are really exceptional. A wide screen wallpaper, that what came across my mind. This location deserves to be visited often.

Hello Adam,
I like the minimalistic approach and the really really beautiful colors all around. It seems like there are 3 colors plus the white:blue, green and yellow.
this shot has been in my favorites in a while now and it has been hauting me for just as long because I wonder how you did to get such a straight horizon, especially on the right. I don't know, maybe you added a sky and masked it and so it gives a straight horizon? I'm not complaining or anything...I have no problem with pp at all, I'm just wondering...
Best regards,
Marc
