Irelands answer to the Great Wall of China is the Mourne Wall which stretches 22 miles long and was built between 1904 to 1922, linking over 15 peaks and is on average 8 feet high and 3 feet wide.

It borders the Belfast Water Commissioners catchment area for the Silent Valley and Ben Crom Dams and is home to a variety of wildlife, flora and fauna.

The Mourne Wall, on the average 2.5 meter high and about one meter thick. Due to the weather conditions and the harsh terrain the Mourne Wall took eighteen years to complete.
