Photographer's Note
The Giant's Causeway lies at the foot of the basalt cliffs along the sea coast on the edge of the Antrim plateau in Northern Ireland. It is made up of some 40,000 massive black basalt columns sticking out of the sea. Geological studies of these formations over the last 300 years have greatly contributed to the development of the earth sciences, and show that this striking landscape was caused by volcanic activity during the Tertiary, some 50–60 million years ago.
The Giant's Causeway is a Unesco World Heritage Site.
Legend:
It is easy to see how these almost perfectly symmetrical formations would be viewed as otherworldly by our earlier ancestors and how the Giant’s Causeway would give rise to colourful legend. The story goes that mythical Irish giant Finn MacCool built the causeway to get to Scotland and battle with a rival giant called Benandonner. When he got there he found that the Scottish giant was asleep but also far bigger than himself, so Finn returned back across the causeway. When Benandonner woke up he came across the causeway intent on fighting Finn. Finn’s wife dressed up her husband as a baby and when Benandonner arrived she said Finn wasn’t home and to be quiet not to wake up the baby. When Benandonner saw the ‘baby’ he decided that if the baby was that big, Finn must be massive. So he turned tail and fled back across the causeway ripping it up as he went. All that remains are the ends, here at the Giant’s Causeway and on the island of Staffa in Scotland where similar formations are found.
I will post more and different views soon..
Sorry..the frame was supposed to be white..but my first experiments with "GIMP" did not go exactly as I imagined...;o) eventually I will get there.

Bonjour Léonie,
Joli cadrage favorisant l'avant plan détaillé.
Amusant, on croirait voir la curbure de l'horizon.

Hi Leonie,
ciao, Giorgio

Hi Leonie, A nice capture of the interesting looking giant stepping stones. Good details in the foreground and repetiotion of the similar stones all the way to far background.
Nice composition and nice shot.

Hi Leonie.
Good to see your first GIMP frame. I think the colour is a good choise, maybe better than white. I am certainly not a frame expert, so if you come by a better way of producing frames, don't forget to tell me.
Thanks,
Magnus

une belle image Léonie et un endroit où j'ai toujours voulu me rendre, sans jamais le faire.. Qui sait!!
Pour le cadre, en Blanc ce serait mieux, mais pas grave...

Hi Leonie. First off a great note and thanks for the effort you put forth there. I like how you have this shot angled down so we can the basalt. You have a very cool depth here plus the shapes are a great addition. Lastly the water looks most inviting. Well seen Leonie!

Something different here. Good idea to realise the graphism present in this natural phenomenon. Being the master (or mistress) of the landscape, this must be quite a radical departure, but I think you could have gone further and got lower, and with less, or no, sky. ANyway, a nice result

Salut Leonie,
Bonne soiree,
jean-Yves

Leonie - this is in an entirely different universe than the human circus I saw there. I especially like the well defined hexagons at the bottom you put there.

Hello Leonie,
Superbe cette vue, j'aime l'horizon un peu courbe, la aussi j'imagine voir cette vue sous plusieurs meteo, par exemple la brume.
super
merci

I’ve seen some images of this place but I never cease to be amazed by these natural works of art. Your POV is quite nice because it creates a good sense of distance by opposing a very near foreground against the distant sea. The small curve of the shore is the key to break the total symmetry of the composition. Good colors and sharpness.

I love the way you "bend" the horizon.
And you don't want me to just repeat all the good words friends already said.
Cheers!
(How are you doing these days?)
