Photographer's Note

Hello Everyone,

This is a photograph showing part of the flagged area (flagged is an old local word for paved) in the centre of Colne town.
There used to be shops on this site but in 2008 it was updated with new shops and this stone art work.

A water feature was intended to work with these stone spheres but an unexpected increase in costs meant that the water was never installed.

I cannot help but see these spheres as metaphors for the solar system. They are features to be thoughtfully protected, just as our Earth needs protecting, at a time when world leaders are meeting to discuss effective methods.
Let's hope they see the need to revise our dependence on fossil fuels, and to consider how to reuse materials rather than discarding!

Please see another view as a workshop.

Have a good w/e, Bev :-)
