Photographer's Note
Hello Everyone,
I wonder, if like me, you are a fan of barn owls. We once had an expert into school who brought a barn owl with him and he told us all about its life history.
Since then, I have been hooked!
This barn owl, from the Himalayan Sculpture Park, was sculptured by Hamish Mackie. He is a remarkable sculptor. I would advise you to look him up on the Internet: you will be amazed.
The bronze owl was situated in quite a shady situation, great as a setting but more difficult for photographers!
Please see my other photographs in the workshops, to get an understanding of the location of this hypnotic sculpture.
Thank you for your interest, Bev :-)

Hi Bev,in fact it is a beautiful and very particular bird, they also live in my area but I have never been lucky enough to meet one. The bronze statue is an impeccable reproduction, the photos are also excellent despite the shady location. Have a nice day and thanks,Luciano

Hello Beverley,
I could be a fan of barn-owl - just we do not have them around here.
I'd love to take a photo of our local owls, almost not possible to capture one in my neighborhood.
Nice sculpture with a gesture to a magnificent specie.
Have a nice new day,
Ike

Hello Bev,
I like the combination of fine details and rough material. Towards the evenings this could possibly be mistaken for a real owl. This place was entirely shady, so exposure was a bit easier than in that mixed area of sunshine and shade of the dragonflies. These photos are all very nicely taken and well cropped. Mackie is obviously a very busy artist but most of his sculptures are rather beyond my budget, especially the life size deers and lions.
Best regards,
Gert

Hello Beverley,
In the pictures from a little further away you might think that it is a real owl. Obviously people know they're in the Sculpture Park.
In documentaries I always find owls beautiful and interesting birds. With their round, flattened face with large forward-facing eyes and their head that is very moveable, they are so different from other birds.
However, I've never seen one in real life.
Despite the fact that the location lets little light through, your photos are very clear and sharp.
Best regards, Paul

Hi Bev,
great series of owl's photos.
My neighbour who is a birder, made a wooden box for owls and it is waiting on the tree already. I wonder how he knows that the owls will come to it, but he said he heard their noises around. It is supposed to be the best natural protection against rodents...
Very well done,
M

Hello Beverley, viewing the work of Hamish Mackie, this Barn Owl is much smoother than many of his other sculptures.
An interesting spot to place the sculpture, shaded amongst the trees.
This Sculpture Park is a fascinating place, I would love it, as you obviously did.
Thank you for all three shots.
Kind regards, Jean.

Hi Bev,
The branches are framing well the sculpture. The point of view is showing the details of the sculpture of the barm owl. The light is enhancing the colors. Have a nice day.

Hello Bev
Missed this one. A good capture of the stone sculpture depicting a barn owl. I have only ever seen one owl here at night but was surprised to learn Australia has 11 species that together cover all States. Tfs!

Hi Bev.
Certainly the sculpture is hypnotic because it seems to be looking at you, I think that when you see it on the path as I appreciate it in the WS, you already feel that sensation that it is looking at you, a wonderful work of art.
Look online at the works of this artist and be amazed, they are incredible, they seem to have life, without a doubt a genius.
A fantastic photo, with beautiful natural colors, very good lighting and excellent sharpness.
Very well done. Love it.
Enjoy the weekend.
Sincere regards.
Luis.

Bev
Here we have a natural environment that matched with the sculpture. It looks surprised by you.
Ps: the lories in the last image of mine caused giant lines with 100 km in the port some decades ago, nowadays not so much

Hello Beverly,
It is a cute figure. I am guessing that it is larger than life-size.
