Photographer's Note
Good Morning Everyone,
Here, you can see the impressive view from the walls of Dunbar Battery.
The Battery, completed in 1781, was built on Lamer Island to protect the Old Harbour & the town of Dunbar from privateers and invaders. Sometime later, c.1870, a two-storey hospital was built within the walls and in 1910, Dunbar Red Cross took over the hospital.
It is very much a ruin now but has been partially restored to make it safe for tourists and as a place to hold events.
The Battery is in a wonderful position to overlook both the sea and the harbour.
From my photograph you can see a couple paddleboarding. The view towards the harbour is quite different and I will show you as a workshop here .
I will; also add a worksop showing something of the Battery's interior here .
Have a great week, Bev

Hello Beverley, the red stone in the foreground contrasts beautifully with the cold tones of the sea and sky, as well as framing the view so well.
The two paddle boarders are a good focal point.
Everything in perfect sharpness.
Kind regards
Jean.
P.S. The workshop picture gives a totally different sense of the
place, thanks.

Hello Bev,
Both photos are very nicely composed. The paddleboarders add some excitement to the main photo, which also has a very appealing foreground of differently coloured stones. The WS would also have made a perfect main photo. The view is even more interesting, and if your husband had used the hood nobody (not even a certain moderator) would have recognized him. He could even have been taken for a lady in red. ;-)
Best regards,
Gert

Hello Bev,
I always think it's a strange idea to sail standing on a board. You expect them to fall over any time. 7
These two sailors are an excellent human factor in this beautiful landscape in which you have made good use of the foreground and background.
Excellent work
Have a good week, groet Rob

Hello, Bev!
The orange tones of the cliffs in the foreground give much more beauty to the scene in such a cloudy day, and you captured this view with very good depth! Very nice composition! Beautiful job!

Hello Bev,
A quite poor light here , but with the red tonalities of the rocks and stoned buildings in the Fg , and the grey sky and sea , the composition is beautiful. Of course , the couple of paddle boarders is a fine bonus to the scene.

Hello Beverley,
A beautiful view of the sea and the rocks in the distance. The red rocks right in front of you are wonderful and their different shades of rusty red so attractive. Good vertical composition as well. The two paddleboarding people are also well included in the centre.

Dear Beverley,
You utilized this part of the fortress to provide a nice fg to the ocean-view with the two persons with the surf boards. I visited the homepage of the battery and its renovated in a really tasty manner. Even the modern parts fit very well in my view.
Best Wishes,
Gy

Hello Bev, I like the vie of the flowers and the human presence in the Workshop pictures. Here the red colours of the walls catch the eye. The lichen-covered boulders are also beautiful. Nice view of the paddlers, I would be afraid of it.
Kind regards Malgo

Hello Beverley,
The battery is indeed an ideal place to overlook the harbour. Your husband was right that he didn't want to leave the spot :)
I do like that picture very much. It's funny that you could have used that photo as a main upload if there were a stranger enjoying the panorama but not with your husband in sight.
On the other side the battery offers good views of the coastline with its dark rocks and with the paddleboarders braving the cold water. I imagine the water there must be very cold :)
Best regards, Paul

Hi Bev, haha...too funny, in the WS photo you wrote "This photograph shows the view"....then I thought OF LENS BUTT. hahaha. that view though (the scene not his butt) is great! :)
in this main post I was surprised to see the two men out there paddling away, we can't see them from the gallery page. You'd never catch me doing that! That water is probably very cold and unforgiving. Nice shot of rustic features, this town looks very photogenic. cheers

Hello Beverley
A marvellous warm cold colour contrast between the rust red rocks and the blue grey tones of the water and sky. Good sharpness and the 2 surf ski riders provide a focal point. Tfs!

Hello Bev,
I like all three photos of the Battery and harbor. In this main photo, the earthy colors in the foreground really stand out. The paddleboarders look tiny in the distance. We also have an old Battery in lower Manhattan. Did you see it during your visit?

Ciao Bev
sei sempre molto accurata e attenta nelle foto che condividi, con note dettagliate e foto nei ws, proprio come in questo caso.
Ottimo il tempismo con i due surf per rendere più attraente la foto.
Un saluto a te e a Len

Hello Beverley,
The red rocks and the mild low light made a special color cast upon the scene. Good scale with the couple of surfers and the far side fishing boat.
The green moss indicate not much sun getting to this spot.
A bit melancholic ambiance, but still show the typical beauty of Scotland.
Good afternoon,
Ike

Hello Beverley,
Strangely enough, I recognize the place from a long time ago, when "Windosil" was active on the site ! She lives there of course, and according to "Batalay" who follows her on Facebook, she is still fine at the grand age of 95 !!
I love your vertical composition and colours ! Those red stones against the grey sea come out really well ; and the paddle-boarders are an interesting eye-catcher of course !
Great WS showing us the place in more details.
TFS and kindest regards.
Marie-Louise.
