Photographer's Note
Good Morning Everyone,
The harbour at Dunbar was busy with fishing vessels.
There was an unexpected story unfolding!
As we were walking along the quayside, we noticed these two seagulls furtively at work on one of the recently returned trawlers. The youngster appeared to be on guard, whilst the older bird, maybe a parent, was secretively searching amongst the nets and the boxes, for food.
We were captivated watching them!
How many times have you known an older person, engage the services of a young more innocent member, to take part in some clandestine activity!
This activity certainly had human parallels!
It was just a quick photograph but an enjoyable part of our harbour exploration!
Enjoy your day, Bev :-)

Hello Beverley,
What a beautiful gull with a wonderful pattern on its feathers. The fishing nets in different colours make a great backdrop as well along with the other gull rummaging through the nets. Well spotted and captured.

Hello Bev,
The colours and arrangements of the nets are good enough for a photo, but what a difference the seagulls make! I had to smile at your note about youngsters forced to take part in clandestine activities by their parents or older friends. I can see a future gang criminal in this innocent little bird.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hi Bev. A scene that reminds me of the workers of the state who work on the streets, one works and the other looks .. ehehe ... I really liked your words, and even the photo is composed in the best way to make people understand the situation what was happening. Have a nice weekend and thanks,Luciano

Ciao Bev
sembra che questo tipo di attività sia molto utilizzata, sia da animali che da uomini (sempre animali...).
La foto è curiosa e originale e ben spiegata dalla nota.
Saluti

A fine close range capture of the bird with the port objects filling the backdrop, beverley.
This seagul specie, a brown feather's, is not the common seagull we regularly see, at least I can state this for myself. More of the one in grey and white as this one on the nets.
Good afternoon,
Ike

Hello Bev,
I think in foreground a young black-backed gull.
The gull in background a Silver gull, but I am not certainly of the sort.
Sharpness and clarity are pleasant to look at.
Very well done, TFS.
Lovely evening,
John.

Hello Beverley, I have to say that I am not a great lover of gulls! Every year they nest between our chimney pots and have either one or two young. So seeing this juvenile is no surprise.
Nevertheless, you have made a very good scene with the colourful nets and fishing gear, and the inquisitive parent in the background. The markings on the youngster are very attractive.
Kind regards
Jean.

The seagull seems to rest after a hearty meal :) it certainly found some fish in the fishing port. Very nice portrait of a bird against the colorful BG of fishing nets

the bird plumage of this gull is quite different than species found on our ocean shore, the one in the distance is typical. They look well fed. Wonderful net colors. It is a pleasant photo, view point captures the bird life mood. I like it Bev, well done, Please have a good weekend - find wonderful scenes to photograph. drt100 David

Beverley, the juvenile sea gull is maybe standing guard where as the adult is searching for food in the nets. It has still its brown feathers. These birds are not scared by human beings, they often prefer to take food from the fishing boats instead of fishing by themselves.

Hello Beverley,
Young seagulls have little experience and are easily convinced by the older ones :)
Beautiful, sharp picture on which the patterns of the feathers of the young bird look great.
Good composition with the many fishing nets and the other seagull.
Best regards, Paul

Hello Bev,
I was so fascinated by the younger bird, that I didntt even notice the older gull in the background at first. The patterns on the young bird are beautiful, and I like the colorful fishing nets, too. Very nice focus and composition.

Hello Beverley,
The best fish & chips I had in London sourced its fish from a coastal village in Scotland much like this one I would imagine. The opportunistic seagull makes a fine focal point. Tfs!
