Photographer's Note
Good Morning Everyone,
I have just been to see the film 'Murder on the Orient Express' and it rekindled the memories that I had of steam trains. Without much imagination, from the outside, this could have been THE train!
Please click on Murder on the Orient Express! to see the photograph much larger and clearer.
I would love to tell you that this photograph was taken in the Alps, it was in fact at Bury Station! Still it was a most enjoyable day photographing the trains and exploring the period, museum in the station..
Though I knew the story of the film, it didn't spoil my enjoyment. The train was magnificent and, without the murders, I would have loved to share the journey.
I have been for a journey on the Orient Express from Manchester to London and could imagine the luxury that was involved in the early 20th century.
I did clone out the part of a figure in the f/g but found it framed the engine, with it still included.
Have a good day, Bev :-)

Hello Bev,
Excellent capture of the locomotive under steam. The people are very much part of the scene and are well included. The whole is well exposed with excellent colours and sharpness. It sounds as if I shall have to make an effort and go see the film, out here shortly I believe.

Hello Bev,
Yes the 2 fg figures in partial silhouette do frame the locomotive engine well. Excellent sharpness and the red and cyan colors of the engine are a perfect match of opposite colours. Tfs!

Steam-engines are always an intriguing subject, to me at least, beverley, as told many times, we do not have a running locomotive like this in Israel and never saw one in action.
The picture is resemble to the Orient-Express movie, especially with the man on the far side track, maybe the station-master.
Exquisite photo, like it a lot.
Good afternoon,
Ike

Hi Bev
The people framing the engine is OK, a pity they are taking pictures, it sort of ruins the travelling-in-time thing here. But there's no escaping them, I suppose. I love the red bar with yellow numbers at the front.
Hope you liked the film, we'll be going to see it with the family after the exams.

Hello Bev,
One possible solution to improve the left side of the photo might have been to crop the picture just to the left of the red doors behind the man on the other platform. Then there would only be a small part of the dark object in the corner left to be cloned out quite easily. The child already frames the locomotive nicely on the right side. These old steam engines always seem to be beautifully maintained, and in this case the red front is very eye-catching. To my mind the well captured steam is the photo's most fascinating feature. It brings me back to my train journeys in India in the 1970's, and even back to Swedish trains when I was very small.
Kind regards,
Gert

Gostei do foco estar no trem, deixando a mulher desfocada.
Bom trabalho! :D

Hi Beverley
A beautiful sight of days gone by, steam & smoke, people on the platform waiting to get on and the background all add to the vintage charm. Colour rendition and exposure are another of your added value. Lovely shot
Best wishes

Hello, Beverley!
Interesting title for this wonderful capture of the old train! The steam around it makes the image very attractive, and so does the beautiful architecture in the background! Excellent light and sharpness! Wonderful job!

Hello Beverley,
Steam trains continue to appeal to everyone's imagination. The locomotives are a wonderful piece of engineering.
In addition, train travel in books and in the movies always involves a special kind of adventure.
I have the impression that all old locomotives had a vivid red metal plate in front ...
And of course the most beautiful pictures of these locomotives are those on which steam can be seen. Just like here.
Best regards, Paul

Hi Agatha
The photographers are there to take pictures of the dead person just after the arrival of the constable! We go back to the 50's when these trains were in use.
Cheers

Hi Bev,
I have recently visited a railway museum in Shildon near Darlington. But it was a busy day with children around.
This one is so pretty! I like the red color -it stands out of the picture very well.
It feels as if a daily life photo but taken many years ago.
You are right I cannot see the favourites photos neither, it was a nice feature if someone is not here everyday but has to catch up quickly.
Great reportage!!
