Photographer's Note
Hello Everyone,
This is the second of my cyclist photographs; the first was taken on a beautiful, bright day, this, by comparison was taken on a day that became very grey and wet.
It was taken at Salford Quays, one of my favourite locations for photography, on a day when a few TE members decided to get together for a day's social and to take some photographs.
This was in the afternoon, when the threatening clouds began to cast their rain. We were rushing back to our cars after a hasty farewell and there, next to one of the iconic bridge supports, was a lone cyclist furiously pedalling to shorten his journey time.
It was just what I had wanted, to capture a cyclist !
I waited until he reached a point where the steps and the bridge supports could be included in the frame and ...CLICK! It was worth getting soaked!
I'm sure Marius won't object to us sharing a little story! He was so wet when he got to his car that he reported he had removed his pants for the long drive home. Thank goodness he hadn't needed to get petrol!
Have a lovely Sunday, Bev :-)

Hello Bev,
Proof that pouring rain does not stop the intrepid photographer from getting a great picture. The cyclist is ideally placed drawing our attention toward the bridge and its strong graphical lines with the steps providing an additional lead-line. Good colours and clarity despite the abysmal weather.
Not raining here today, but very cold.

The modern bridge appearing marvelously under the grey afternoon sky, from a fairly distant POV that allow a capture of the biker passing, Beverly.
Even as the light was subdued, managed a fine picture with clear details and objects.
Good afternoon,

Hello Bev,
The modern design of the grey steel bridge provides a perfect background for this photo from a very grey day. The cyclist in his dark clothes fits very well into this scenery of grey details. There are so many nice designs seen here that the lack of colours doesn't dull the photo a slight bit. It was really a photo worth waiting for, even if it made you soaking wet.
Kind regards,
Gert

Bonjour Bev
J'aime bien cette photo toute en nuances de gris. Beau cadrage vertical qui accompagne à merveille cette forme qui ressemble à la queue déployée d'un oiseau magnifique.Le cycliste est parfaitement placé dans le cadre.
Amicalement

Hello Beverley,
The weather looks pretty ugly here, but the bridge still looks marvelous. Its darker tones make a great contrast with the cloudy sky. The poor cyclist is very well included too.

Hi Bev.
I took quite a liking to Manchester in three visits over the last 10 years, although people do tell you it never stops raining.
It's amazing what one can do with a camera on a grim day, and how much difference one bicycle can make. Sometimes, as we know, it's just a matter of waiting patiently for someone to enter the frame of your photo; much easier of course when there's not too many people about to block the view. You caught this one at just the right point in the picture with the M.C.Escher steps and sculpty thingy ahead of the cyclist. Very well done, and great note to go with it. Happy Monday.
Regards,
Andrew

Hello Bev, I am sure you have nice memories from this TE meeting in Manchester. What a pity I wasn't there too.
Even in such a rainy day one can have fun together and there are nice pictures. Interesting view of this bridge support. There are many attractive lines in the composition.
Kind regrad s Malgo

Hi Bev,
Despite the grey skies this one has more dynamism an stronger light contrasts focused more on stark differences in light and shade. Good sharpness too. Tfs!

Hi Bev
haha, funny story. I like this one, its always best when there's a funny story to accompany the photo. I think the grey overtones really put this over the top. its almost a black and white without being black and white. love the small steps and the tall artistic portion sticking upwards. interesting collection of styles. sweet shot Bev
cheers
