Photographer's Note
A cold misty sunrise over the River Adur in Shoreham-by-sea, West Sussex, England. The old wooden footbridge coated in white icing following the severe night frost.

Hello Brian,
An impressive composition using a powerful perspective that promises lots of depth. The scene is so real that I feel the immense chill. Inclusion of the sunset scene through the opening of the railing is a great addition. A great work very well done. TFS and best wishes,
Suleyman

Hello Brian,
A superb warm vs cold color contrast between the blue & orange in this superb sunset. The sun is well framed & positioned between the rails. Good linear perspective with the lines converging from right to left. Tfs!

One thing I notice about your work Brian is the way you really explore a subject. I do pretty much the same thing and I think it pays dividends. One's eye constantly seeks out detail, looking at light from various angles as well as strong compositional elements. This is one of the reasons I like to revisit places and subjects and above all have time to really look. In this instance you have posted a variety of shots of the frosty bridge which illustrates my point. This is a strong composition, the detailing in the bridge is excellent (who scratched the wavy line?) and the misty sunrise is soft and lovely. Gorgeous! Warm regards Rosemary

Hi Brian,
wow, I can almost feel the cold...and I am currently in the South of France! (Mind you it's not that warm at the moment). Love the strong diagonal and the framing of the sun.
It seems unlikely considering the weather but I feel a silhouette on the footbridge would definitely add extra interest...

Hello brian,
on ressent bien le froid dans cette photo, d'abord par le froid des couleurs bleues très présentes et se soleil vraiment minuscule, presque inexistant.
La brume aussi renforce cette impression.
Belle composition cadrée intelligemment.
Amitiés.
Daniel.

Hi Brian,
Beautiful light you captured here. The cold and wintery sky with misty condisiton contributed to the very unique mood and atmosphere, the light is so delicate and pure, it is almost like a painting. YOu composed it well putting on the sunset in one of the opening of the bridge and yet still so much depth with good perspective with the bridge leading in.
Excellent shot. My complement. I like the simple white frame.

Hello Brian,
You have thought hard about this composition, not only getting the converging rails to finish at a strong disappearing point but, also considering thirds and the positioning of the rising sun.
There is a fine contrast of colours, whilst the exposure is perfectly sharp.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

ciao Brian,

Hello Brian,
This is an impressively dramatic shot of a bridge I think we have seen before but from a greater distance. And, if I'm not mistaken, I think the other photos were taken the same day too, albeit over three years ago.
Your picture has captured the bitter cold perfectly with the thick frost on this footbridge and the cold freezing fog/mist hanging over the water, barely pentrated by the early morning sun. The composition is excellent, the colours sublime and the depth of field and sharpness exquisite.
And I don't really think that it's a problem either that someone was here before you - the little footprints on the bridge and the squiggly lines in the frost on the railings actually add interest rather than detracting from the shot!
Beautiful!
Kind Regards,
John.

Hi dear Brian
I knew this was yours even looking at the photo in miniature, you have such a distinctive style. Love the pastel colours, particularly the ice, which as you say, is literally the icing on the cake. Excellent diagonal lines forming a marvellous perspective and the depth of field is pin-sharp, giving usa very beautiful backgound.
Warm regards

Hello Brian
What were you doing up and about at this time of day and in this cold, when all self-respecting citizens are tucked up in bed? Ah: you wanted to capture a great picture, of course. Well, you've succeeded: good tones, nicely framed, and a real feeling of not just viewing, but being there. The perspective of the bridge gives it dynamism as well.
Regards
Will

Hello Brian,
The beautiful point of view creates
a lots of extra depth in the picture.
The vertical line are vertical (that
shows that you see every little detail)
and I like the composition: the sun
is now a little spotlight (it doesn't
matter how you watch the picture, you
end always by the sun....the title).
The light management is also great.
Friendly regards and have a nice weekend,
Robert

HI Brian!
Seems that I missed a lot from your masterpieces. I really liked all the images from this place or everything that has this color and feel. The aura and lighting is just surreal (I really do wonder what the heck did you do just to create this soft and warm effect and produce such quasi vibrant pastel colors). Love the sun that is seemingly at the center, framed within the squares of the bridge, genius! Excellent light management as always, loving every detail of the bridge! Another top quality winter image!
warmest regards from the tropics
Matt
P.S. seeing this image really helps cooling my head from the heat, whew!
