Well composed image of winter in our hemisphere. I like the off center composition and the fact that you managed to incorporate the misty feeling og the scene. Well done. You could consider a b/w version - might accentuate the feeling even more?

Hello Brian,
a wonderful composition with the diagonal of the ground, the straight vertical trunk and the delicate branches opening up against the misty landscape. The trunk and thicker branches contrast intriguingly an overall sense of fragility. I love the dim view into the misty background and the marvellous quality of the light you've captured as the sunlight is struggling to pass through the clouds. Congratulations and thank you!

A wonderful frosty image. I like this simple composition and yet powerful as it is, and I love to see when the elements conspire to change the landscape as depicted here, thats beautiful. The sturdy lone tree is amazing but I also do like the diffuse foggy background that disappears into the distance. It's well exposed shot, great dof with smaller aperture you have captured acceptably in focus as such it renders more of an interest in texture in the foreground I love the whole feeling and mood of the picture. It's beautifully done, Congrats

Dear Brian

You really get brownie points for this. For two reasons. The photo is exquisite, so subtle, with amazing textures and a magical atmosphere created by the sparse and fragile tree aswell as that ethereal mist. And the second reason you deserve brownie points is for even daring to step out your front door in weather like that. Wow, it looks so unforgiving. A cuppa tea and Corrie in front of the fire would definitely be more my style. Congrats on the photo, it's lovely.

hello Brian - Good for you taking a shot under tricky weather conditions where the light is quite flat. I think the result is evocative and lovely. The colours are just so subtle and elegant, the details perfect with the lacy branches of the tree making a fine display against the misty backdrop. Lovely work. Rosemary

a grey day it is indeed, but one with lots of charme to it. That tree has a lovely shape, the hint of green under the frozen grass add just the right amount of color to the otherwise monochrome scene of fog and frozen ground. Very nicely presented.

Hello Brian. Landscape with tree and some fog. A sorely beautiful image from winter. It is a gray day, but the colors are visible. Fine composition. My compliments for this subtle picture.

Brian, I am thinking that you only can make a grey day look so very beautiful!
You have the ability to make a lonely, naked tree to look like a nature's bride dressed in frozen white and pose in such an elegant and proud way!
Staying away from the foggy part and showing off its magnificent shape!

Hello Brian,

You also posted a winter lonely tree shot!
The frost on the branches and the overall white-grey color given by remaining snow the the fog is giving a cold and winter feeling. It also allows to evidence the design and graphism of the naked tree.
