Photographer's Note
wild daffodils below the beech tree at lisnagade ring fort, near scarva, county down.
there are 45,000 ancient ring forts throughout ireland. in the province of ulster they are densest in counties antrim, armagh and down. townlands commonly get their name from ancient dwellings within them,
lisnagade fort, from the irish: ‘Lios na gCead’ meaning "fort of the hundred", is a large celtic rath, three miles from banbridge, county down. this fort has a commanding view of the surrounding countryside, from which a great number of forts can be seen. it supposedly got its name by being the chief, or centre, of a hundred other forts.
lisnagade is one of the most extensive and best-preserved of its kind: it consists of treble ramparts and intrenchments; the entrance is from the east, leading into an extensive circular enclosure, the fosses on every side are very deep, and it is remarkable that they are all paved at the bottom with rounded pebbles set in clay. though bronze artefacts, including coins, a cauldron, and weapons have been recovered from the site, little is known about its occupants.
this ancient site dates back more than 1000 years, and is thought to have been constructed around 350 AD. the interior is now overgrown with vegetation, and a beech tree just off centre now provides the main focal point. its stretched out branches gave me the feeling of a ghost from the past being present.

Good Morning Brian,
Is there anything that brings back happy memories, the beginning of spring, better than daffodils? Towns and villages around the country have planted these attractive flowers, where they have become naturalised, and now proclaim spring with vitality.
This simple subject is well composed with elements strongly positioned and nothing detracting from the sweet subject.
Have a lovely day,
Bev :-)

Hi Brian,
The yellow daffodils contrast well against the bg blue sky as well as adding a splash of colour against the green grass. Good sharpness & the green mossy lichen encrusted tree suggests it rains a lot in these parts. Have a great Sunday!

Spring. Look how fresh the grass looks and I see a trace of new leaves too. A simple but lovely shot Brian. The golden yellow daffodils and blue sky peeping through the branches speak of the promise of new life. Lovely. Warm regards Rosemary

Hello Brian, yes, the daffs have certainly been abundant this Spring, here ours are beginning to go over after all the recent raised temperatures.
The solitary bunch beneath spreading Beech tree in this shot give a touch of colour to a nicely composed scene.
Best regards Les.

Hi Brian!
I like forts a lot:)!
Seems the interior is also very nice! The huge bare tree, surrounded by the small ones is just perfect! The grass and the daffodils make a nice foreground and you're showing a beautiful sky through the naked branches! A good Spring shot, with very good colours!
I'll return tomorrow with more time to see your gallery. Seems you have really good works here:)!

Hello Brian,
An interesting and informative note and a lovely picture of Spring to accompany it.
The little patch of bright yellow daffodils makes a beautiful bright foreground yet the old gnarled tree takes pride of place in the composition. All against a wonderful deep blue sky. Beautiful colours, perfect exposure and superb detail and sharpness.
Beautiful!
Kind Regards,
John.

hello Brian
I like the way you have framed the tree, making it more imposant, and giving the sensation that it's streching its branches like a ghost, as you say.The blue sky and the yellow daffodils give very nice colors.

Hello Brian,
Your highly informative note complements this superb shot from Ireland. The green one associates with Ireland has the highlight colors here of the flowers and the blue sky. I am a physicist, but I also do art. And it is this type of bare trees, a veritable lacework that I find especially appealing.
Warm regards,

Hi Brian,
your composition seems so "normal", and yet there is something really striking in it.
The daffodils make an important contribution here enriching the palette of colors. Beautiful colors of summer, they are well saturated and so natural.
Great work,
M

Hi Brian,
amazing spring picture! All classic light green and yellow and blue, spring at its best! The trees do look like ghosts from a fairy-tale but the fluffy white clouds in the background make them look so beautiful!
Great composition. Thanks and all the best.
