Photographer's Note
Who ever has had the chance to walk, cycle run or just be on the canals of Great Britain- will know the serenity of the waterways! There are over 2200 miles of canals in Great Britain.. built for the Industrial revolution from 1789 to the mid 1890s - to day the are mainly for pleasure...

Dear Ric,
You have written a fascinating and most informative note about Britain's canals and shown us a beautiful photograph to accompany it.
This is a perfectly and very pleasingly composed image which works so very well in black and white: I love the soft lighting and the rich tones, fine contrasts and lovely textures. Your exposure is perfect and the details and sharpness are exquisite.
Beautiful!
Kind Regards,
John.
P.S. How remarkable that you took this photograph in the little Oxfordshire village of Cropredy. I have, in fact, visited this place a couple of times myself and actually became acquainted with one of the village worthies there - in fact, he used to live very close to this very canal. Pretty decent old bloke he was but he was pretty long in the tooth when I knew him so he's probably passed on long ago. Fancied himself as a bit of a photographer too but would never have managed to produce a photograph half as good as yours. Cheers.

Bonjour Ric,
I saw “Oxfordshire” and I thought I must have a closer look... :)
Fact is that we - my husband and I - will be in the neighbourhood in the second week of May and we will have kind of a “mini TrekEarth Meeting” with Beverley (https://www.trekearth.com/members/Royaldevon/) and her husband Len, Will (https://www.trekearth.com/members/willperrett/) and John aka Tyro who just wrote a critique “up there”. I don’t know if you live close to Oxford but it would be great to meet you and if you like to join us you would be greatly welcome!
Your photo is so atmospheric, even quite mysterious enhanced by the use of B&W. I had to think about the many British thrillers in book or tv-series which of I am a huge fan!
Really great image, thank you!
Amicalement,
Viviane

Hello Ric,
I am not the big fan of black and white but your picture has very nice perspective and depth
Also, good reflections with the gris colour if black and white
An excellent compotion and good presentation
Very well done, TFS

Hi Ric,
This is an exceptional photograph. Though very busy, the whole creates a tunnel that draws you in. As others have already said the details are crisp and the water's surface a perfect mirror.
I used to wander the canals in London, but they weren't as atmospheric as this.
Tfs,
Mark

Hello Again,
Wow - what a great conversion to black and white. There is so much to enjoy in this photo - it would look great hanging on a wall.
Kind Regards, Ann
