Photographer's Note

Its good to be home after a short trip to Australia.

How contrasting and how different thre two countries and continents.. One huge, hot and "dry" ( I say dry but recent floods and cyclones could proove me wrong), the other small, cold and over crowded. But even so its good to be home and when the sun does come out, it creates such wonderful and unique photo opportunities.

One of the things that I did notice from a technical point of view was the difference in settings. Initially all my images were over exposed.. there was far too much light with the bright sun light and I found it fun trying different exposures . What I did miss was the use of low level sun light, creating great shadows and highlights. Sunrise and sunset were much shorter and therefore you had to work that much quicker..

All said and done I got some great shots in Melbourne, Brisbane and Sidney and will slowly post them in a travelogue as time progresses. In the mean time it is good to be home and this is the image that was presented to me on my third day home from my front garden.. ( Oxford Canal - looking North from Bridge 152)

Yes Its good to be home.. but Australia- I will be back..!!
