Photographer's Note

I will soon continue sharing my photos from Florida. This is an emergency upload. As you may know I love ticking off new counties on the map of a country I live in, and last weekend I had the pleasure to visit two new counties. This is a photo from Nottinghamshire. Here is the full map of UK counties photographed by me. I still have a lot of places to go.

You see here probably the most recognizable building in Nottingham: Nottingham City Council.

When I noticed the fountain in front of it, I knew I must use as a foreground. And here I had a little adventure. This fountain is much bigger than it looks like, it is wider and has few more layers behind. Most of the time the water in it is still and it provides a chance for a reflection. On this warm sunny day though it was filled with children. My daughter was one of them (not in this photo). At first, she hesitated to enter the fountain but after a while I was not able to follow her anymore. Obviously, she got completely wet, so we needed to buy new set of clothes for her. And then we went for a great ice cream. A moment later I was waiting for my wife and daughter next to the fountain again and decided to take few more shots. Suddenly I heard a loud shout. I ignored it, I didn’t think it could be addressed to me. But it got louder, more aggressive and closer to my head. A huge guy started to scream at me that I shouldn’t be taking photos of children. I suppose he was there with a child but I have noticed he was inspired to attack me be a lady pushing him towards me with an angry face. I stayed calm and explained to him that I am interested in the architecture and in fact I am waiting for my daughter so I have a little child myself. I showed him my latest photo taken with a wide angle lens where no children were actually possible to notice. He was ok with that. He returned to the lady explaining it to her but she pushed him again, and he came saying that I should get a written permission from people when I take their photos. He became quite reasonable in the end. And I showed my understanding being a parent myself. But when I got back home I became quite irritated. There are so many places which I cannot photograph for silly reasons. If you let your child swim semi-naked in a pool in the middle of the town -you must be prepared that someone will take their photo. If I was a pervert I would hide and not go around with a camera. People share on facebook photos of their children for free, if I was a pervert why would I bother to walk around taking photos of children. But most importantly: if you suspect someone but you are not certain, go and kindly ask, don’t start screaming like an animal seeing someone with a camera. And please: if you had seen my beautiful little daughter you would soon realize that I cannot be possibly interested in photographing your child.
