Photographer's Note
This gatehouse forms part of the remains of Dunstanburgh Castle. The castle lies on a headland about a mile north of the village of Craster. Built as a fortress by The Earl of Lancaster, construction started in 1313. Dunstanburgh was the largest of several magnificent castles that were built in Northumberland.

Hi Finlay,
un'immagine davvero interessante quella che ci proponi.
Un castello dall'aspetto spettrale che non conoscevo.
TFS!

Hello Finlay,
I like your point of view in this shot, which creates a nice contrast between the rugged stone work and the light blue sky.
I think it's amazing that the tallest piece of the wall remains standing - through all the wind and rain that must pound it.
Best regards,
Andrew

Hello Finlay,
Thank you for your generous review.
Very strong and splendid POV. Although the castle is now a ruin, it still maintains a great presence. The sharpness of the photo is great, and the photo has very natural colors. The texture of the stone surface is still telling us its long history. A beautiful place with its great history. I appreciate your photo very much. Thank you for sharing this great image with us.
Very best regards,
Nobu.

Hello Finlay,
I've seen your picture posted today and, after I read your note on that one, I just had to search out this previous shot!
Somehow you have managed this shot extremely well indeed! I usually find, when taking a picture like this against the sky, the whole sky becomes totally "bleached out" and featureless but you have managed to retain lots of colour and interest in the sky while still having some lovely light on the castle itself.
The bold composition is good, the colours true, the exposure spot-on and the details and sharpness excellent.
Beautiful!
Kind Regards,
John.
