Photographer's Note
Whitby's swing bridge in the town centre is the link and lifeline between the two halves of the town, it has just recently been celabrating its centenary, most of its life it has had its troubles breaking down from time to time but last week (wednesday)it broke down in the open posisition, and is expected to be out of action for the rest of this week. This is a tourist resort as well as a fishing port, and at the height of the season it is causing major problems in the town centre, small boats are been used to ferry people accross the harbour and back.

Adrian, kind of dreary and dark but then that is the weather of the day and the photo shows it well. Welcome back to TE.

Hi, Adrian,
an interesting note - I expect the tourists will be quite pleased to go across in a boat, but it is not so good for the people who work in the town!
Since the bridge is the main interest in your picture I though I would try to emphasize it a bit more, even at the expense of losing your realistic depressing mood - see WS.
Best wishes,
Winifred
