Photographer's Note

Aysgarth Falls is another beautiful place which I visited towards the end of May 2020. It is located in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. This place may actually get crowded so it is better to arrive early to be able to find a parking spot and avoid crowds. Aysgarth Falls is a place with cascading waterfalls. They are divided into Upper, Middle and Lower Aysgarth Falls. The Upper are the highest and if there is plenty of water in the river they make a great impression. The Lower are not so high but there are really many cascades and if there is not much water the visual effect is stunning. I will show you the almost empty river bed in the next photo but for start a small fragment of the lower falls here.
I am rubbish at photographing the falls. I always struggle with the exposure. Bright sky or brightly lit water is too bright shaded area often gets black. The latter is the case here. Sometimes I have a tripod with me but now I didn’t even bother: I just don’t know how to photograph them. Fortunately the place is so pretty that it defends itself well.

In that exact week, the last week of May, I was supposed to be in Croatia and Slovenia. Among other places I wanted to visit Plitvice Falls and Lake Bled. Ironically in spite of the fact that I was not able to fly there, I have visited other beautiful waterfalls and other impressive lakes.
