Photographer's Note
Good Morning Everyone,
Following on with my theme of black and white, I am posting a photograph taken at Salford Quays.
This is the footbridge over the quay linking together the Media City Building behind, with the War Museum in front.
This development sits on the banks of the 36 mile long Manchester Ship Canal, built between 1887 and 1894, and one of the industrial wonders of the world – it was audacious, politically controversial and fraught with engineering challenges. To some extent the modern, redevelopment of the site issued similar challenges but is now a hub of activity.
I chose black and white for this photograph as the day was cloudy, had been wet, and was without excellent light, but the clouds were a feature in their own right.
Compositionally, I liked how all lines seemed to be focussing in on the bridge supports, whilst the figures were unaware of this dynamic.
Hope your day is good. We have had snow, hail and rain within an hour but it's still cosy inside the house, Bev :-)

Hello Bev,
The man in the striped shirt probably doesn't know that you made him look like a kind of modern angel. But whatever we may see here, the bridge certainly offers a lot of photo opportunities. There are so many lines, most of them diagonals, that make this such an exciting composition. Since this is very much about lines and design, and the weather was less than charming, you probably made another good decision to turn this into B&W. The dramatic looking sky was probably partly a case of careful processing.
Best regards,
Gert

Hello Beverley, an excellent composition where we see such a variety of lines; some converging and some not. I love the fact that there is a man with a striped shirt coming towards you!
The brooding sky adds to the drama.
The black and white presentation was perfect.
Kind regards, Jean.

Hello Beverley,
The difficult light and the POV justified a B&W format. Details of the modern bridge and the walkway in front appear in fine manner.
Stay indoor's untill the snow stop from falling...

Hi Bev,
it reminded me the TrekEarth meeting with you Bev. We were walking this bridge together.
Very photogenic place and you have found a new creative way to present it.
Black and white certainly adds an artistic touch here.
The clouds appear so dramatic.
Plenty of lines and shapes, great use of the modern structures around.
Excellent work,
M

Bonjour Bev,
Certainement la plus belle photo de la journée. Je la voyais de loin dans la galerie et j'avais hâte d'y arriver.Un noir et blanc parfaitement réussi avec un ciel très expressif derrière ce pont en forme de voiles.
Amicalement

I liked the repetition of the shapes in the structure and the use of B&W enhanced the graphic effect of the image and its beauty. excellent.

Hello Beverley,
Such an amazing bridge, I love its design and elegance. It stands out beautifully from the clouds in the sky, also with thanks to the black and white. Very well done.

Good evening Bev, I really dig the graphic urban storytelling here. The orchestration of the line indeed points to the action and the very nicely dramatic sky forms a great backdrop. Fab ! Take care, Bert.

Hello Bev, Very strange bridge with these lines, more like an art installation. Good use of black and white. Stunning composition.

Hi Bev
So now only B&W pictures! This was taken the last year during our TE meeting, the norming was very dull I remember though it was at the beginning of June, so conversion in B&W is suitable, the skyb is threatening.
Good play with the converging lines ending on some walking people crossing the foot bridge
Cheers

Dear Bev
Fine series of photos in black and white.
Nice view across the bridge with the fine presence of people on the bridge structure that makes a great graphic feel to the beautiful architecture of the museum and surrounding buildings.
I wouldn't mind seeing a color photo, despite the harsh light conditions, although in vertical format with a rule of thirds, we have a very harmonious composition here.
Nice to see.
Warm regards

Hello Bev,
Another superb b&w image with good sharpness and tonal range. Excellent perspective and lead in lines offered by the suspension bridge, with a dramatic cloudy sky as a backdrop. Tfs!

Hello Beverly Instead of apparatuses to secure the bridge I rather see the strings of a celestial harp played by the cross-winds fantasies! Cheers

Hi Bev
another fine artistic presentation to have on your gallery page. Surprised there aren't any WS photos :) I know I haven't seen the colored version, but obviously this was a smart choice as the clouds make a great secondary focal point.
best part for me are the strong perspective cable lines almost acting like fingers pointing us in the right direction in case we get lost :) excellent post and compo
cheers
