Photographer's Note

Attitudes to smoking are changing rapidly in Britain. In the past, people would smoke almost anywhere, even whilst working. More recently many workplaces restricted it to separate rooms - smokey little havens, where workers could meet up at break-times, make roll-ups, chat and put the world to rights. Now even these places have gone as many employers have have imposed total bans on smoking on-site.
I can understand the reasons - I'm a non-smoker myself - but it does seem as if a little piece of daily life has gone for good with the demise of The Smoke-room.
