Photographer's Note
Good Morning Everyone,
I'm sure you will think that this is quite a simple subject but I make no apologies for it.
For me, it has proved the great importance of the sun, not just for plants but for the mental well being of people.
We have suffered continuous rain from the start of this new year, added to that the long nights and it is easy to feel the need for some light in your life.
Last week we saw the sun!
We had three days without rain and the sun blessed us at times! For that reason, I was inspired to record it.
I loved how the winter tree appeared to be bathing in the sunlight, looking just as special by its shadow!
I tried to compose the shadow along a diagonal and also contrast the reality of the trunk, with that of its shadow.
The shadow, in the f/g, is of the drystone wall at the edge of the field.

Hello Bev,
Another topclass capture in your gallery.
Taken with very good pov and sharpness.
The long long shadow of the tree adds almost a 3D effect to the compo.Many good and usefull notes is a perfect evidence of the fact how serious you take this site.

The idea is not new, and I did something similar with one of the apples trees in my garden couple of years ago.
But I can understand your feelings about missing light very well. So lets start the age of enlightenment!

of course the title is a good statement, and I can join with our end-of-the-winter weather today: Un-expected 28C spring like day here.
The tree shadow point towards the large field area, clear picture with good depth as far as we can see.

Hello Bev,
There is never any need to excuse oneself for simple compositions, or for using simple objects. I like this photo very much. The tree frames the photo nicely on two sides and its magnificent shadow is perfectly placed on a diagonal, covering most of the green area. The delightful simplicity means I don't have much else to say. It's just a good photo. ;-)

Hello Beverley, excellent title and so true.
I like that we can only see a small part of the tree whereas the shadow shows its shape quite clearly.
We have the bonus of the view across the fields with sheep grazing.
It’s raining again at the moment! I think that even the ducks are fed up of this weather!

I liked the way you used the shape of the tree and its shadows. nice view of the green fields ahead. yes, sun is nice for the mood. I like in a sunny region, especially during the winter when the sun is present most part of the days.

Oh, I totally understand you! We finally had some sun again as well, it felt so good after all that rain! A beautiful landscape underneath a blue sky with just some friendly white clouds. The shadows of the tree is beautiful too, very well spotted and captured.

The green grass lifts the mood too. Not sure about England but in eastern Turkey and Eastern Europe the landscape is completely barren and brown in winter, when it isn't covered by snow. Looks quite desolate. The shadow emphasises the presence of the fg tree. Tfs

Hi Bev,
tough winter! I waited so long for the strong winds to stop and for the bad weather on the weekends to change to be able to enjoy the outdoor, and here you are the Coronavirus arrives and even more sitting at home will happen probably...
Let's hope we stay healthy at least..
Very creative composition with the focus on the tree shadow.
I like shadows like that so I share your enthusiasm for this composition.
The only regret which I have here is that the tree trunk is glued to the right edge, I would prefer it to be included in the scene entirely to be able to see on the right side of the tree as well.
Very natural light and colors.
