Photographer's Note
Once there was a farm here, now only a few stones are left as a reminder. The sheep can graze wherever they wish.
Abandoned because a reservoir was to be built in the valley below, and keeping a farm above would not have been suitable, with the possibility of polluting the water.
This farm lies further up the track from Middleworth Farm that I shared in 'Abandoned Farm'.
The remains of the buildings are not as complete, but they are more extensive. See two more pictures in the workshop.
Click on the pictures to open a new tab and see the pictures in greater detail.
Thanks for looking.

Hello dear friend and have a nice weekend
its a pity to see abandoned houses
or stones left as a reminder...
but surely there many reasons
and because of them we have
abandoned places...

Bonjour, cher Jean,
Ces pierres sont le témoignage du passé. Les moutons paissent tranquillement et l'ensemble forme une image pastorale du meilleur effet.
Merci pour les photos présentées en bonus.
Amitiés.

Hello Jean,
This is a charming area and the sheep grazing among the ruins create a picturesque atmosphere. To my amateurish eyes this could have been leftovers of a Greek or Roman palace, but I understand this farm was nowhere as old. But I wonder how long ago the farm was abandoned.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hello Jean,
You composed the photo very well, it's a nice combination of the green slopes and the old stones of the farm. The sheep walking around and eating grass are also well included.

Hello Jean,
These remains are part of the historical book of the Dartmoor! You can imagine a 'Time Team' group turning up to excavate and record its history.
It's poignant that the farmhouse, which was once occupied by the farmer, is now used by the sheep!
You have made the ruins into a sharp and interesting feature, projecting from the green slope and backed by the denser greenery of the trees.
Have a good w/e,
Bev :-)

Hi Jean
Plenty of emphasis on the "was". The remains now act as retaining walls. Superb in the large view.

Hi Jean
Nice capture with livestock around Jean, I like the remnant of the old stonewall which seems to take you back in time. It really stands out within its peaceful rural environment and very pleasing end result. Excellent shot and tx for sharing

Hello Jean,
Looking at the photos, I get the impression that we are seeing here remnants of an ancient civilization.
The green, undulating landscape makes the setting of the remnants of the farm look very beautiful.
The sheep present make the scale clearer to us.
Best regards, Paul

maybe the most fixed stones will be in the place for centuries, if the blocks would be larger this would be almost eternal.nice images showing these ruins. here in my region the oldest houses were made of timber and even the small signs about them no more exist after being removed.
take care

Hi Jean,
nice set of photos with ruins of a farm. The remains are well composed with the vegetation and some sheep which walk around freely.
It does feel very much as Britain or Ireland indeed. The weather didn't spoil you but I see you kept the sky to minimum.
Very well done,
M

Jean, that farm building made in cutted stones collapsed. Only some walls are remaining nowadays. Moss grows on the stones, it proves the humid oceanic climate. Sheeps are grazing in this place and maintain the lawn around the ruins. Fine colors, good sharpness, regards.
